Privacy Policy

Last updated: 15 May 2025 · Effective date: 15 May 2025

Short version: The Q2Q app collects no personal data and makes no outbound internet connections. The Q2Q website collects your email address only if you voluntarily sign up for a launch notification — with your explicit consent. You can have your email removed at any time by emailing [email protected].

1. Who we are

Q2Q is developed and operated as an independent product ("we", "us", "our"). For privacy enquiries, contact us at [email protected]. We are the data controller for any personal data collected via this website.

2. What data we collect and why

2a. The Q2Q application

The Q2Q macOS application does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data. Specifically:

  • Q2Q does not create user accounts or require registration
  • Q2Q does not transmit data to our servers or any third-party servers
  • Q2Q does not use analytics or crash-reporting that transmits identifiable data
  • Q2Q does not access your contacts, photos, location, or other sensitive device data
  • All NDI network communication stays within your local network

2b. Launch waitlist (website)

If you submit your email address via the "Notify me" form on our website, we collect:

  • Email address — to send you a single notification when Q2Q becomes available on the Mac App Store
  • Timestamp — the date and time of your submission, for our records
  • Consent record — a log that you ticked the consent checkbox at time of submission

Lawful basis (GDPR): Consent (Article 6(1)(a)). You must tick an explicit opt-in checkbox before submitting. This consent is freely given, specific, informed, and unambiguous. You may withdraw it at any time (see Section 5).

Purpose limitation: Your email will be used solely to send one launch notification. We will not use it for newsletters, marketing campaigns, or any other purpose without obtaining fresh consent.

Retention: We will delete your email from our records within 30 days of the launch notification being sent, or immediately upon a valid erasure request — whichever comes first.

2c. Support communications

If you contact us at [email protected], we use the information you provide solely to respond to your enquiry. We do not share support correspondence with third parties. Emails are retained only as long as necessary to resolve your request.

3. Third-party services

Google reCAPTCHA v3

Our website uses Google reCAPTCHA v3 to detect and prevent automated abuse of the waitlist form. reCAPTCHA collects hardware and software information (including IP address and browser data) and sends it to Google for analysis. This processing is subject to Google's Privacy Policy and Terms of Service. We use reCAPTCHA under the lawful basis of legitimate interests (GDPR Article 6(1)(f)) — specifically, protecting our systems from spam and abuse.

Google Sheets (waitlist storage)

Waitlist email addresses are stored in a private Google Sheet accessible only to us. Google acts as a data processor under our instructions. Data is held within Google's infrastructure subject to Google's Privacy Policy. We have not enabled any Google Workspace data-sharing features that would allow Google to use this data for its own purposes.

Apple Mac App Store

Q2Q is distributed via the Apple Mac App Store. Apple may collect usage and crash data per their own privacy policy. We receive only anonymised, aggregated crash data via Apple's tools — we cannot identify individual users from this data. For details, review Apple's Privacy Policy.

Cloudflare

This website is served via Cloudflare. Cloudflare may process IP addresses and request metadata for security and performance purposes as a data processor. See Cloudflare's Privacy Policy.

4. Cookies

This website does not set any first-party cookies. Google reCAPTCHA v3 may set cookies as part of its bot-detection process. These are third-party cookies set by Google; you can manage them through your browser settings. We do not use cookies for tracking, advertising, or analytics.

5. Your rights (GDPR)

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom, or Switzerland, you have the following rights regarding your personal data:

Access Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
Rectification Ask us to correct inaccurate data we hold about you.
Erasure Request deletion of your personal data ("right to be forgotten").
Restriction Ask us to restrict how we process your data in certain circumstances.
Portability Receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
Objection Object to processing based on legitimate interests.
Withdraw consent Withdraw consent at any time without affecting prior lawful processing.
Lodge a complaint Complain to your local data protection authority (e.g. ICO in the UK).

To exercise any of these rights, email [email protected] with the subject line "Privacy Request". We will respond within 30 days. We may ask you to verify your identity before fulfilling a request.

For erasure requests specifically: email us from the address you used to sign up and we will permanently delete your record and confirm by reply.

6. Data transfers outside the EEA

Waitlist data stored in Google Sheets and processed by Google reCAPTCHA may be transferred to and stored in the United States. Google participates in the EU–US Data Privacy Framework, providing an adequate level of protection under GDPR Article 45. Cloudflare similarly operates under standard contractual clauses for data transfers.

7. Children's privacy

This website and application are not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 in the EEA). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has submitted data to us, please contact [email protected] and we will delete it promptly.

8. Changes to this policy

If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. For significant changes affecting how we use personal data, we will provide additional notice where required by law. Continued use of the website after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.

9. Contact & complaints

For any privacy question or to exercise your rights: [email protected].

If you are in the UK, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office: ico.org.uk. For EEA residents, contact your local supervisory authority.
